Ogier tops the FactSet Global Filings league tables

Posted: 09 April 2008

Ogier is ranked as one of the top offshore law firms in the FactSet Global Filings league tables in 2007 for all document filings.

Owned by FactSet Research Systems Inc., FactSet Global Filings is a major supplier of computer-based financial and economic data to the global investment community.

The league tables are based on the information FactSet receives from law firms, banks, investors and exchanges. They measure the number of documents (or deals) law firms act for as lawyer to issuer as well as the number of securities a law firm has advised on although the latter is less significant as it involves a measurement of the multiple tranches which make up a deal.

Ogier's Cross-jurisdictional Structured Finance Team continues to demonstrate its leadership in terms of size and depth of expertise and experience, having worked on some of the largest, most complex cross-border offshore deals particularly using Cayman, Jersey and Ireland.

The team continues to provide the highest quality offshore legal advice (BVI, Cayman, Guernsey and Jersey) and offshore and onshore SPV administration services across the British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Guernsey, Hong Kong, Ireland, Jersey, London and Luxembourg.

Chris Byrne, global head of Ogier's Structured Finance Team, commented, "We are delighted with this top tier position which reinforces the large volume of structured finance vehicles that we have been running for clients over what has been a very busy twelve month period.

Our primary focus, in this current market, is to be as proactive, supportive and responsive to clients' business needs in what is a highly uncertain and changeable economic climate. This is currently involving us in a large number of restructurings although we continue to see some new structured finance transactions".
