New partner promotions reinforce Appleby's global growth

The offshore firm Appleby has announced the promotion of seven lawyers to partnership. Capping a year in which the firm added 46 new lawyers, including three lateral partners, promotions confirm Appleby's commitment to worldwide expansion.


"We are very pleased to be able to reflect the strong growth of our global business with the promotion of new partners in four of our offices," explained Global Managing Partner, Peter Bubenzer. "Our success is defined by our people and these partners represent the future leadership of the firm.


Their experience, responsiveness and talent, will ensure we are able to offer the highest levels of service to our clients."
Appleby's new partners represent the firm's strong global Corporate, Litigation, Property and Trust practice groups:


Janita Burke has over eight years of corporate experience and is a member of the firm's Insurance Team in Bermuda. Janita practises in all areas of corporate and commercial law with an emphasis on non-contentious insurance work and is also experienced with segregated accounts structures.


Sally Cox is in the Corporate and Commercial group and serves as the Local Practice Group Head of Property in the British Virgin Islands. Sally has been practising corporate law for over a decade, including banking and asset finance.


Michael Cushing specialises in complex commercial and corporate litigation in Jersey, and has extensive experience of arbitration and mediation.

Valerie Georges-Thomas practises corporate and commercial law in the British Virgin Islands and focuses on various aspects of international/offshore business with specialisation in advising on the formation of investment funds.


Sabrina Leacock practises in both the Corporate and Commercial and Trust Practice Groups in the Cayman Islands.


Vanessa Lovell Schrum practises trust law in Bermuda, including advising on the use of private and commercial trusts, estate planning and handles the administration of local estates and applications for probate.
