Irish regulator amends its UCITS III policy to allow shorting

The Irish Regulator has amended, on the 5th October, its UCITS III policies to allow for direct short selling in securities (so long as the security is borrowed in advance of the sale). This will allow UCITS III regulated long/short funds e.g. 130/30 type funds, to operate in virtually the same fashion as the existing long/short hedge funds run by hedge fund managers.
