Gibraltar firm bought out by Quay Financials Ltd
Posted: 16 July 2008
Quay Financials (Gibraltar) Limited, formerly Van der Moolen (Gibraltar) Limited was the subject of a Management buy out in June 2008 following a consolidation of the Van der Moolen Group (which was part of the van der Moolen Group - quoted on Euronext (Amsterdam)).
Quay Financials (Gibraltar) Limited is now wholly owned by a Gibraltarian Holding company called Quay Investments (Gibraltar) Limited. This, in turn, is owned by the management and staff of Quay Financials (Gibraltar) Limited.
Quay Financials Ltd is regulated by the Financial Services Commission and has a Category I Licence, which permits the company to conduct Brokerage and Investment Management Services and, where necessary, to hold client money as a Category I Firm.
Quay Financials currently has 2 divisions - a Broking division and an Investment Management division. The Broking Division currently has clients ranging from HNWI to Institutional funds. In addition, there is an Execution (Give Up) Team that transact on all the leading global derivative markets. The Investment Management Division provides services to the EIF structure described below.
The company also has an Experienced Investor Fund (EIF) which has been created under the Protected Cell Company Structure ("PCC"). This is the Quay Umbrella Fund PCC. Individual Cells can be easily created under this Umbrella structure for the purpose of adding further funds/cells in a very efficient manner (in both time and cost).
For this EIF, The Investment Manager is Quay Financials (Gibraltar) Limited; The Fund Administrators are Grant Thornton (Gibraltar); the Custodian is ABN AMRO Bank, the Principal Broker is ADM Investor Services International Limited and the appointed auditors are Deloitte & Touché (Gibraltar).
The Quay Umbrella Fund offers a number of Alternative Investment Funds which are offered with rates typically at 2/20 with the exception of the Managed Futures fund where fees are 2/25. The principal advantage of the structure is the single manager offering highlighted above, or allocating to the Umbrella Fund itself. The Quay Umbrella Fund would act as a fund of funds, discretionary managing assets and diversifying across Quay Umbrella Fund's spectrum without the additional fees that a traditional FoHF typically charge.
